To me, this salad is definitely a North Dakota creation! Both Steve and I remember seeing this salad being served ever since we were kids growing up :)
It's a nice addition to just about any meal and I think it's great for summer-time.
7 Layer Salad
1 head of lettuce or 1 bag of "Just Lettuce"
1 cup of celery chopped into bite size pieces
1 cup shredded carrots (sometimes I buy them already shredded--they're called "match-stick" carrots)
1 red onion chopped into small pieces
1 pkg. frozen peas, thawed but not cooked
1 1/2 cups mayo
2 T. sugar
6 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
8 slices bacon chopped up
1 cup of celery chopped into bite size pieces
1 cup shredded carrots (sometimes I buy them already shredded--they're called "match-stick" carrots)
1 red onion chopped into small pieces
1 pkg. frozen peas, thawed but not cooked
1 1/2 cups mayo
2 T. sugar
6 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
8 slices bacon chopped up
~Layer first five ingredients into a 9X13 baking dish, starting with the lettuce on the bottom. Then spread mayo on top, then sprinkle with sugar, then cheese, then top with bacon pieces. Cover and refrigerate for at least a few hours.
